Short answers to the questions caterers ask most often about Neviscater — quantities, raw materials, locked orders, stock, bills, printing and access. Each answer links to the guide with the full explanation.
Orders and menus
Why can't I edit this order? It is Locked, Executed, Closed, Cancelled or Archived. Only Enquiry, Online Enquiry and Booked orders are editable. Move it back to Booked (Locked → Booked; Closed → Executed → Booked). → Order status lifecycle
Why is the suggested quantity blank or zero for an item? Its Item Type has no Average Consumption, or the item's unit does not convert to the type's unit. → Events and Menus → Quantities, Units
I added a second dessert and the first one's quantity halved. Is that right? Yes. The type's total (avg consumption × guests) is shared among items of that type, weighted by Consumption Weightage. Raise the weightage or set Quoted Qty manually. → Quantities
Can the AI fill in the quantities for me? Yes: Actions → Suggest quantities with AI on the menu sizes every item from the whole menu, occasion and guest count, and shows the figures for review before anything is written. Accepted figures are saved on the items as Quantity per guest. → Suggest quantities with AI
I changed the guest count but nothing recalculated. Make sure the event was saved; quantities and costing recalculate on reload. A manually set Quoted Qty is kept — click Auto suggest menu item quantities to reset.
What is the difference between Calculated Rate and Quoted Rate? Calculated = your cost per plate (+ margin from Rate & Pricing). Quoted = what you charge; you set it and it is never overwritten. Red means you are quoting below cost. → Costing and the quoted rate
How do I reuse a menu from last month? Duplicate Order (whole order) or Export To Catalog / Import from Catalog (just the menu). → Duplicate an order, Catalog Menus
Raw materials and recipes
A material is missing from the raw-material list. The item using it has no recipe, is marked bought ready made, or the material type is filtered out. → Raw Materials Consumption
"The material and recipe units are not convertible" — what do I do? Only kg↔gm and lt↔ml convert on their own. Measure the recipe line in the unit the material is kept in, or give the material a pack size (1 Bottle = 750 Mililitre) so ml and lt convert too. The item's Recipe button shows a warning triangle naming the lines concerned. → Units, Pack sizes
Raw-material quantities look far too high. A recipe is probably written per batch instead of per one unit of the item. Recipes must be per 1 kg / 1 plate / 1 piece of the item. → Recipes
Item shows "inconsistent rates". The specified rate is zero while there is a recipe or calculated rate, or the calculated rate is above the specified rate. Update the Specified Rate. → Rates
Why can't I delete this material / item? It is used in a recipe, menu, catalog, purchase or order. Remove those references first, or leave it — unused records don't affect anything.
Can Neviscater create purchase orders from an order's raw material list? Yes. On the order's Raw Materials screen, tick Include available stock, switch to the vendor-wise view and click Create Purchase Orders: one draft per vendor, pack sizes rounded up, ready to send. → Create Purchase Orders from an Order's Raw Material List
Stock, execution and wastage
Stock did not change after I executed the order. Update inventory was unticked (click Update Inventory Now), or the material/item has Track Inventory off, or inventory tracking is disabled in Preferences. → Execute an order
Wastage Report says "Needs Update" for an order. Actuals are not saved yet, or rows have the ⚠ flag after a re-execution. Open Material / Item Actuals and Save Actuals. → The ⚠ flag
I executed before the menu was final. Undo execution (restores stock, deletes actuals), fix the menu, lock and execute again. → Undo execution
Why don't disposables appear on the Wastage Report? By design — leftover disposables are credited back to stock and never counted as wastage value. → Wastage Report
Stock went negative. Purchases were not recorded before execution. Record them, or correct with Add / Subtract stock. → Materials and Inventory
Bills and payments
The bill total doesn't match my quote. Check each event's Quoted Rate × Guests, the order Discount, and whether expenses are adjusted in rate (inside the plate rate) or not (separate lines). → How the bill is built
GST is not on the bill. Tick Include this tax in invoices under Preferences → Manage Taxes. → Taxes
Can I edit a bill line directly? No — the bill is derived. Change the event rate, guests, expense or discount.
I paid a vendor one amount for several orders. Record a General Payment on the vendor; it is allocated oldest order first. → Vendor Finances on Orders
Access and account
A user can't see a button I can see. Their Role lacks the permission (e.g. Execute needs Edit Orders; Add Payment needs Manage Finances). → Roles and Permissions
Restore Points / Export Database are missing from my sidebar. They are available to the main account owner only. → Staff and Users
A sidebar item has a badge and opens a "Plan Details" dialog. It is a Premium feature not in your plan. → Plans and Subscription
I made a big mistake across many records. Restore a Restore Point from before the change. → Saving and Restoring Your Data
Printing and email
My logo / GST number is not on the PDF. Fill Preferences → Business Details and tick the relevant Printing / Invoice Printing Options. → Printing and PDF Templates
PDF shows boxes instead of regional-language text. Pick a font that supports the script under Preferences → Reports Templates → Font Name. → Text Conversions
The Customer column in Email Reports is disabled. No email on the order. Add it in the order's customer details. → Email Reports
