A Catalog Menu is a saved, reusable menu — your Standard Wedding Lunch, Corporate Breakfast, Budget Dinner 1. Each has its own item list, guest count for quantity calculation, quoted rate per plate and an optional thumbnail. Use catalogs to quote quickly, keep menus consistent, and to show packages on your website.
Create a catalog menu
- Application Setup → Menus Catalog → Create New Menu.
- Menu Name, a Rate / Plate (your quoted rate for this package), optionally a Menu Thumbnail (Choose image to upload, then Resize thumbnail to Max width / height — resized in steps of 20 px).
- Save, then open it to build the item list.
The catalog item screen works exactly like an event menu — insert items, group by Sub-menu, Auto suggest, set quantities — see Events and Menus → Build the menu. The catalog has its own guests figure — and, when you cook non-veg, its own Non-Veg Guests — so suggested quantities and cost per plate are calculated for a typical size; see Events and Menus → Veg and non-veg guests. Both figures travel with the menu when it is imported into an event or exported from one.
Per-catalog Actions: Raw Materials, Items Based Raw Materials, Print Catalog Menu, Print Item Quantities — so you can cost and print a package without creating an order.
Update Quoted Rate changes the package price; Edit Menu Name, Remove thumbnail and Delete are on the row.
Use a catalog on an event
Event menu → Import from Catalog → Show Catalog → select → Import Catalog Menu. Tick Import / Update Event's Quoted rate also to copy the package rate to the event's Quoted Rate. Quantities are recalculated for the event's actual guest count.
The reverse — event menu → Export To Catalog → Catalog File Name — turns a menu you built for a customer into a new catalog entry.
Publish to your website
Each catalog has a publish toggle. Published catalogs are the ones shown by the Menu Embedding widget on your website, with the thumbnail, items and rate, so visitors can browse packages and send an enquiry. See Menu Embedding. Unpublish to hide a package without deleting it.
Common questions
Imported menu quantities look different from the catalog. Correct — they are recalculated for the event's guests. The catalog's quantities are for its own guest figure.
Can a catalog include ready-made / vendor items? Yes, with the same Menu Item Properties as an event menu; the vendor and rate come along on import.
Delete all catalogs? Delete All Menus on the catalog list — take a Restore Point first.
